What A Wonderful Thing

I have waited years to get to this event and it most definitely hasn’t disappointed. Breeding dogs has always been a dream of mine as I have always loved watching dogs work at a job they were bred to do. At first I wanted to breed border collies but after we got our first Aussie I knew then that they were the breed for me. Olive my first Aussie wasn’t the one I wanted to start with as I wanted to breed red Aussies. My next Aussie Terra only confirmed that this was the breed for me. Terra got me through some of the hardest times I have been through in my life and I might not be here if it weren’t for her. Terra remains by my side as my service dog and will have no litters of her own. This brings me to Chili the little red girl who has exceeded every one of my expectations and stolen my family’s hearts. Chili works like a dream but also has that wonderful off switch that is so desired in working dogs. Another wonderful things chili does is love my children fiercely. Henley taught chili to climb a ladder on the playground and go down the slide with her and she did all with no treats just purely the fact that Chili loves Henley. This week Chili whelped her first litter and I couldn’t be more proud of her! Chili has been not only an excellent mother but also so very patient with my children while allowing them to be a part of this experience. To say that I’m filled with joy is an understatement and I can’t wait to see what this new chapter will bring for my family. I also have to add every time I check on the puppies chili looks at me like loooook at my puppies (she is so proud of them).

Giggles and Such

Our house was in serious need of some laughs yesterday when I decided to put all the dogs to work. Jeff was kind enough to hook up the sled and all the dogs and let them pull the kids in a sled. Henley and Audrey loved it!!! We are not sled dog people but I had so much fun anyway and it was some much needed food for my soul as it lifted my spirits.

A Hunting We Will Go

This weekend we went to go cut down our Christmas tree with the family. In years past we have always brought one of our dogs with us this year it was Chili’s turn.

Big Responsibility

Our oldest daughter started preschool this year and like most kids the pandemic has made it very difficult for her to be prepared for a classroom setting. Everyday for school drop off she asks to bring one of the dogs with us. While we hang out in the school drop off area she snuggles, hugs and kisses that dog until she is ready to run onto school at the last moment. This may seem like a small or insignificant thing to some but the comfort and distraction that these dogs provide for my daughter is priceless. The Party Olive seems to be one of the favorites for Henley to take with for school drop off.
